Mahou Sentai Magiranger

Magic, myths, and fantasy creatures take over from the heavily technical, military-flavored direction of SPD. The season largely takes place hidden within the real world, supplemented by its own magical dimension, which gives the setting a more fairy-tale-like character overall.

This theme is reflected directly in the Zord concept. The Mystic-Zords are based on dragons, mermaids, griffins, and other mystical beings, and come across as noticeably more playful than the Zords of the previous seasons.

The MagiKing is the main Zord of the season, made up of magical creatures that can act as independent beings. This system is rounded out by additional stand-alone Megazords, each with its own mythological foundation.

Much like the V-Rex before it, the MagiLegend is designed less as a classic DX-Zord and more as an electronic action toy. The focus is on built-in features like movement as well as light and sound effects, rather than on a modular combination principle with other Zords. As a result, the MagiLegend stands somewhat outside the usual Zord framework.
