My thoughts on this season:

Clean edges instead of claws and scales: with Power Rangers Zeo, the first truly new generation after Mighty Morphin Power Rangers essentially began. Even though the suits and Zords change with every season, Zeo was the first season to clearly break away from MMPR and strike out in a direction of its own.

Conceptually, the Zeo Zords struck out on a path of their own. Instead of dinosaurs, fantasy creatures, or humanoid forms, a geometric theme now took center stage as well. Clean lines and simple basic shapes defined the design and gave the Zords a more technical, more abstract feel.

Within the Zeo season, the switch of the main Zord was once again put to use. At the start, the Ohranger Robo was at the center, and later on it was replaced by the OhBlocker. Unlike in MMPR3, this was less of a thematic break and more of a consistent further development of the existing Zord system.

From a collector's point of view, the DX Zeo Zords are especially interesting because of their clean construction and their functionality. They come across as more sober and more structured than earlier generations, which makes them easy to place within the Zord lineups. Especially in comparison with the previous seasons, it becomes clear just how deliberately a new foundation was laid here.
