Series Zords 8
My thoughts on this season:
Picking up directly where Megaforce left off, Super Megaforce is the actual anniversary season. The setting initially stays Earth-bound, but expands through the introduction of the Legendary Ranger Powers, which let the Rangers tap into the abilities and designs of earlier teams. In terms of content, the focus is less on Zords than on the shifting Ranger forms, which is also reflected in the toyline.
The Zords and Megazords are loosely based on the Japanese source material Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, but were heavily simplified for the Western market. The classic combination principle of earlier seasons takes a back seat in favor of the Zord Builder System, in which individual vehicles and modules can be combined flexibly.
The Zord Builder System includes, among others, the following vehicles and figures:
- Lost Galaxy Cycle and Red Ranger
- Time Force Cycle and Blue Ranger
- Lightspeed Rescue Cycle and Green Ranger
- Operation Overdrive Cycle and Red Ranger
- Jungle Fury Cycle and Blue Ranger
- Turbo Cycle and Silver Ranger
The system is rounded out by several Deluxe Zord Armor Rangers, which thematically reference earlier seasons and their Megazords:
- Deluxe Legendary Zord Armor Ranger
- Deluxe Gosei Great Zord Armor Ranger
- Deluxe Samurai Zord Armor Ranger
- Deluxe Q Rex Zord Armor Ranger
These vehicles and Zord Armor figures are part of the modular Zord Builder concept, but play only a minor role for classic Megazord combinations and are therefore not collection-relevant for me.
